The Trump administration has expressed frustration after the latest Gaza ceasefire talks collapsed. Six months into the administration, media coverage has centered heavily on Gaza's humanitarian emergency, with less attention given to Hamas’s role in the crisis. The situation has apparently worsened, with negotiations completely deadlocked. Hamas rejected the latest terms while Israel withdrew its negotiators in protest.

  • Trump signaled support for Israel to “finish the job” against Hamas, while acknowledging that there is “real starvation” in Gaza
  • Israel announced pauses in military activity in parts of Gaza and new humanitarian aid routes
  • Hamas released two videos showing an Israeli hostage in captivity including footage where he is filmed digging what he says he fears will be his own grave—and said that they will not disarm unless an independent Palestinian state is established
